Here on our campus and through Healthy Davis Together, we also are seeing an increase in the number of positive cases due to the Omicron variant, but thankfully our overall number of positive COVID-19 cases is still quite low compared to most of the rest of California. We know there is concern in our community about the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, largely due to the highly transmissible Omicron variant. ![]() Mannis for an update on the new and exciting Tschannen Eye Institute to be completed in the Fall of 2022.Īs we reflect on the end of 2021 and look forward to 2022, we wanted to take a moment to reiterate our winter quarter plans and provide you with a few updates. He conducts a busy referral practice in diseases of the cornea and external eye based at the University of California, Davis. He has served as one of the Directors of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is President Emeritus of the Cornea Society as well as the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology. Mannis is editor/ author of six books and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals with over 200 published papers and is a reviewer for the Archives of Ophthalmology, Cornea, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology, and Cornea and Contact Lenses. Clinically, he specializes in corneal surgery and diseases of the external eye. His primary research includes studies in the development of new anti-infective agents, corneal transplantation, visual rehabilitation of patients with corneal disease, and the management of oculodermal disease and diseases of the ocular surface. He also serves as Medical Director of Sierra Donor Services in Sacramento, California. ![]() Mannis is the Fosse Endowed Chair in Vision Science Research, and Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Science, UC Davis Eye Center at the University of California, Davis.
